The BioFlo™ PICC is the first PICC of its kind with Endexo® Technology, providing a catheter material more resistant to the accumulation of blood components, including platelets and thrombus. Endexo® Technology is a permanent and non-eluting polymer blended into the polyurethane used to make the catheter and is present throughout the catheter, including the intraluminal, extraluminal, and cut surface. Endexo® Technology remains for the life of the catheter.
In acute in-vitro testing, BioFlo™ PICCs demonstrated 87% less thrombus accumulation, based on platelet count, compared to commonly used PICCs. BioFlo™ PICCs are available with PASV® (Pressure Activated Safety Valve) Technology, offering automatic resistance to backflow and reduced blood reflux, as well as in non-valved configurations. Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are indicated for short- and long-term peripheral access to the central venous system for intravenous therapy.
